Hello. I am about to attempt to repair a worn-out* Hornby Class 47. I have never tried this before though I do have the instructions which came in the original box. Can anyone suggest best place to get spares? Thank you.
*Motor sounds like it spinning but not a lot of drive is getting to the wheel.

You could try East Kent Models (click here for contact details) (http://www.eastkentmodels.co.uk/), they have usually been quite helpful to me.
It sounds like the brass cog has become detached from the motor. A spare should fit snuggly.
To test for this, take the body off the loco and with the cogs facing you, turn the wheels. If they turn easily and the brass cog is turning, but the motor is not, or if the brass cog is not in line with the plastic cogs and moves freely from side to side, that is your problem.
