Hi folks

Hubby is warming to his railway in a garden shed, which will be more than that, cos it will be insulated and heated. Proposed size 16 feet by 6 feet (external sizes). As non-standard size, it will have to be built, so not cheap. Internal usable width will be about 5'6". I reckon that will be enough to support radial curves for flexibility. I am proposing two doors in to give access to two operating wells, on the assumption that hubby may not have the mobility to scramble under a central area.
Anybody got any comments on this, or advice?

Meg

Hi
Don't forget to insulate under the floor. Cold will enter from here as well as through the walls and roof!
Have the Electrics (Mains power sockets and lighting) professionally installed from the house. This is in fact a legal requirement in the UK.

A section of the layout directly in front of the door (which should be outward opening) can be hinged on one end making a lifting section (Draw Bridge style). These are an ideal way of entering/exiting a central operating/work area of the layout without loosing too much space!
