Hi all

I'm having trouble laying my track for a oo gauge layout. The loco's run fine but when I put on the coaches they tend to derail going around the bends. What radius curves should I be using, 1st-2nd-3rd? All help much appreciated. Thanks
Dennis.

Hi Dennis, 2nd or 3rd would be best but I do have coaches that go round a 1st rad. However it depends on the coaches, whether they have the clearance at the ends during the turn. I found that mine were "flicking" themselves off the track with the connection arms trying to get out of the radius. Also if your coaches have the fine wheels, everything has to be spot on for them to run without problems, ie joints and level etc.

Regards
Albert.

Hi Dennis,
You should realy only be using 2nd radius and above. Some locos won't even like that, so if you can use 3rd and 4th radius. But if not, minimum 2nd radius is fine, it works okay for me like this.

Hope this helps,

Jacob :)

That's a very good idea Dennis, The Reason models can no longer go around 1st radius is because of the detail on them, I suppose Its a small price to pay to have detailing. It's also because they are way too tight!
