I notice this has come up alot in discussion....i have quite alot of steel oo track. in excellent condtion but lookin quite weathered but realistic in areas. what is the best method to clean the top (conductivity) area . wet n dry and then my track rubber????...i'm quite concerned my newer trains will not run on old steel rails....any help appreciated but i dont want to throw my old track away theres just too much plus i do have newer zinc track....thanks

Being an N gauge modeller who has only used N/S track for the last 39 years I know very little about steel track, But it seems to me that unless it's rusty it should clean up alright. and the advice given by Bengunn and bypassm6 in the thread " Restoring old track to its former glory? " is sound advice. regards.

Hi i havent used steel track for years but i remember it wasent as good as nickel silver you can clean the tops of the rail's with a track rubber thats all i use.If i was you i would consider useing nickel silver track as its a lot better than steel.
