Hi everyone, i've only got back into railway modelling again after finding all my old stock in my mums roofspace. I always assumed all my stock to be OO gauge (2 hornby train sets and several lima locomotives and wagons) but i recently bought a OO Bachmann tamper but it is too small compared to my other stock. Sorry for the stupid question but i'm sorta stuck

Hi Martin welcome to the Forum, When you say too Small I presume it still fits on your OO track but is small in size, in which case it's an HO - 87:1- 3.5mm/1ft gauge model used by most of the Continent and America, there equivalent of our OO -76:1- 4mm/1ft gauge. so I'm afraid there's not a lot you can do apart from selling it on or putting up with the difference. There are similar problems with N gauge where there are three different scales.

Thanks buddy, yeah it fits on the oo track but is too small. I bought it on ebay as oo and it says oo on the box but obviously it's not so i'll prob just sell it on. Thanks again for your help.

Hi Martin, just looked on the Bachmann site there motorised tamper is No. 36-165A if that is the number on the box it should be OO. This is a photo of it.

The Tamper is marketed as an OO model by Bachmann, but unfortunately, it is basically a HO model repackaged.

Hi Martin
I bought one about a year ago and put it away without really looking at it, I got it out a couple of days ago to give it a run and discovered the same as you. It is definately HO regardless of what Bachmann put on the box.
Ebay here we come.
