If you receive a PM from a guest, containing a link to an external site, that suggests your computer may have unwelcome software on it.
DO NOT CLICK THAT LINK !!!!!
The chances are that this link will then take you to a site that offers to scan and clean up your computer, by claiming that your computer is infected by viruses, has malware on it or similar problems.
IGNORE IT. (if you are worried, run your anti-virus scan yourself)
This type of spam / scam is a means of getting you to download a trojan or other program that can allow another computer to hijack your machine.
(not just the security nightmare of stealing your passwords and financial data, but also the prospect of ussing your internet bandwidth to send out spam emails!)
I am speaking from experience here, one of my co-workers:o at my last employer was caught by this type of scam, and it took us quite a while to really spring clean his computer hard drive.
Safe surfing!
