Hi

I am trying to build a model of this van and I can not work out from the instructions given where the number of the van goes as well as the GW, I have found a picture of one with the GW at the step end and the number at the other but I have also found a picture of one with the GW and number the other way round. The instructions seem to imply that they where the same way round on both sides so the GW would be at the step end on both sides and the number at the other. Please can any one tell me which one of these is correct?

There are pictures of this type of van, preserved at Swindon, easy to see via internet.Where did you get the kit?I would like to model this as well (in 00),our local shed St Blazey once had a tool van and mess coach(sometimes known as a riding van)used together as a "breakdown train",the pictures i have are the same as the ones at Swindon(these are badged as Taunton Loco & Carriage Works)cheers for now.

Hi I got the kit from haye models here is a link to their web page:http://www.ukmodelshops.co.uk/catalogue/haye

I have now found 6 pictures of preserved ones but half of them show the GW at the step end and the number at the other and the other half show it the other way round. The problem that I am having is that I can not find a picture of both sides of the same van. the instructions say that the GW goes on the outboard end and the number goes on the left side of the door but this would mean that the GW and the number would be on the same end of the van which there is not enough space for.

many thanks

Tim

try looking at some of these?
http://www.ws.vintagecarriagestrust.org/ws/wresults.asp
then googling to get a website for the location to get more info.

If not try looking at fotopic or flickr

Sorry, I can not help more directly!

Sorry the Vintage Carriage site was not that much help. If you are not close enough to go and take some shots it can be difficult to get a busy preserved railway to do them for you! Although it could be that some supporters who take masses of phots and might possibly have some?

Another possible source is this site
http://www.preservedrailwaystocklist.org.uk/index.html

The owner might (I stress MIGHT!) be willing to help, or point you at someone who could help in your search?
