Hello,
I'm sorry to say it's a couple of decades since I dismantled my OO layout at my parents' house and I do hope to get started again soon with my own son (and a few leftover bits of my old layout) as soon as he's old enough and we've a house a spare room...

In the mean time I was wondering if you could help me with a related problem? I'm trying to get some childrens' books for my son which I read when I was a child. They were about a boy with a serious OO gauge train set in the attic who discovers some "real" OO gauge people living on it. Trouble is I can't remember the name of the author, the title(s) or even the characters' names.
I have a vague suspicion that the eldest OO gauge person was called Telford (but my Dad thinks it was Stanier) and that's about it.
With so few details even google isn't giving me any joy.
Does anyone here remember this?

Good lordy-heres my first post on a new thread /site and I DO remember those books-sadly not well enough to provide a title or an author-although the name Pope seems to ring a distant bell...-here`s what I do remember-the trains were LMS & SR (hints of the SDJR here)-the whole thing was a sort of cross between the Borrowers and the Railway Children-I read them in the late `60`s/early `70`s-I work in the book trade, specialising in remainders so if anyone can come up with even a title (Telford seems a good start point) I`m sure we can find them-would love to re-read them............

...although the name Pope seems to ring a distant bell...Yes!:D That's it. Thank you! A bit of googling gives me "Ray Pope" as the author's name, but sadly also a good indication that they're well out of print :(
I work in the book trade, specialising in remainders so if anyone can come up with even a title (Telford seems a good start point) I`m sure we can find them-would love to re-read them............The series seems to be referred to as "The Model-Railway Men" and I think that's probably also the title of the first book. Other titles popping up now: The Model-Railway Men in America; The Model-Railway Men Take Over; Telford and the American Visitor; Telford Goes Dutch; Telford Tells the Truth; Telford's Holiday; Telford Saves the Line. Also one called "Telford and the Prairie Battle" but I'm not sure that's part of the same series.
There's more titles come up there in the last few minutes than I remember reading in the first place (didn't have google back then though.)
