i want to add a narrow guage slate mine loco working underground to pull ore wagons any suggestions needs to be in scale with 00
thanks
The best scale gauge combination would be 009. This uses 9mm gauge track to represent prototypes with gauges around 2 foot. Although, most items for this scale gauge combination have to be either kit or scratch built, its wheel standards and gauge is exactly the same as 'N' gauge so many modellers use 'N' gauge chassis with either a kit or scratch-built body. A good source of information can be found on the 009 scocieties website at http://www.009society.com/.
Slate wagons and 'V' tippers are produced in plastic kit form by Parkside-Dundas and a few other small manufacturers.
If you want a ready to run ROCO have a range of free-lance/german prototypes in HOe. The relationship between HOe ond 009 is much the same as OO is to HO (9mm gauge but to 3.5mm/foot rather than 4mm).
ROCO make some particulary nice ready to run wagons (ideal for a quarry) anf their freelance rtr deisel is probably a useful thing to start with.
The most readily available track system seems to be peco crazy track which is ideal for a roughlu laid quarry. Items available are left, right and y points as well as flexible track. Alternatively you could use N gauge.
Hope this is helpful
