Hi there. I'm Paul and I'm the Hon. Treasurer of Twickenham & District MRC. My main reason for joining this forum was to make everyone aware of our Club and what we offer - we have members from all around the South West of London - eg Barnes, Staines, Guildford, Ealing, Bracknell. We cater fror all gauges and all skill levels - our website is www.tdmrc.org.uk. Will post more as we have more news for you!

Hi Paul, Welcome to the forum. I attended that first meeting of your club in 1961 .
Hello Twick9
We've recently unearthed loads of founder members we didn't know about. I even heard from Joe Hodgson who started the whole thing by putting an advert in his model shop window advertising the first meeting. Did you actually join?

Hi Paul, no I didn't join it was about the time I found girls. I did go again when the club moved to Richmond with intentions of joining but then I bought a car and modeling took a back seat, I sold all the TT for a pittance with one exception a handmade brass Deltic which I used as part exchange for a Minitrix Warship from Hodgson's and it's still running after nearly 40 years. It's good to hear Joe is still going he must be in his ninetes, I often think about his shop it was never the same after he sold it please give him my regards next time you see him. my name is Brian Newcombe. Hello Brian
We heard from Joe Hodgson's daughter last week - our first contact with Joe in ( I guess ) 30 odd years. Joe is 87 and his daughter Susan is now his full time carer. We hope to post a photo of Joe ( taken at one of our early exhibitions ) onto our website shortly.
Regards
Paul

Hello Brian
Just came back to MRF to see how my posting about modelling Chinese HO is going ... disappointed to see no replies.... am I the only one????
FYI ... Twickenham & District MRC held its GOLDEN JUBILEE EXHIBITION in May 2011 and a video of the event is now posted on our website www.tdmrc.org.uk
We now have 92 members which is a great improvement on our low point of 55 in 2003
