Hi everyone. I keep thinking of building a n scale layout which would be approx 6' x 3' in three sections of 3' x 2' to facilitate storage when not in use. Now after reading lots of advice given to others on here I've decided to possibly go DCC. My locos at the moment are Trix Warship " Hermes " and Grafar class 08, so I wondered if these could be chipped? They both run really well on DC. Any suggestions and advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Ron

Hi wsrbloke
I haven't yet come across a loco that cant be converted to DCC. Some are simple to do while others take much more work!
You may find this web sites links of help for some of your locos?
Link to Bromsgrove Models N gauge conversions (http://www.bromsgrovemodels.co.uk/decoderinstallation2mm.htm)

The main thing is to ensure the motors two wiring connections are fully insulated from everything else - Chassis, wheels etc. A multimeter is an ideal continuity, or lack of continuity really, testing tool and you really only need a cheap one... Cost around £10 or less.

Not sure what a "Life like ....." is?

Is this conversion item any use? DCC decoder install (http://www.brian-lambert.co.uk/DCC.htm#Decoder%20Installation.) Scroll down to locate the J94 conversion article.

Hi, The Lifelike chassis I believe is or was an American thing which was taken over by another company. The one I have is under a Western body but not very good. It only drives one bogie on two axles and the chassis is plastic which allows it to flex a bit (needs bracing). Having said that it will pull 4 coaches with a bit of ballast added. I'm not sure but they could still be available!
