Hi, at the age of nearly 50 I have decided to build my first layout. Having had a growing desire to do this over the last few months, but never even having had a train set, I thought it best to join a forum where some no doubt knowledgeable people may be able to advise me. I have decided on N gauge for several reasons, mainly that I can build a reasonable size layout on a not too big board! I initially wanted to build a fanasy snow layout, based loosely on the film and book The Polar Express. I bought the correct model loco and some similar carriages, but am beginning to think it may be a bit too adventurous for a first build, besides which the Xmas theme may seem a bit odd in July! I am now thinking along the lines of a snow covered winter layout, possibly with an industrial theme, I have bought some old industrial style buildings from Ebay USA. I really don't know where to begin with this, particularly getting a good snow effect. Any advice welcomed!!!:):confused:
