Reverse siding

Posted 23-03-2018 at 01:11 PM by Mike1943

I want to turn engines round and return them to the same track pointing in the opposite direction, further down the line and do not have room for a turntable.

My idea is to leave the track, via a point in reverse and then go through a 'Y' point and into a siding. The other exit from the siding will flow back to the track via another point, thus achieving the turning of the engine. The carriages of my train will be left between the 2 sets of points which will mean I can couple up and move off in the opposite direction with my engine facing forwards. My problem is that the two ends of the same track will have opposite polarities when they reach the Y points and my question is can you use a reversing loop controller such as the Hornby Reverse Loop Module to change polarity in the siding and allow the engine to move off on the other branch to which it came in.
