Clay Hills International is a fictional location, influenced by several real life locations, with a dash of artistic licence thrown in for good measure.

September / October 2017

September recap:
A busy month on the layout which is strange just recently. There has been lots of things going on.

As mentioned previously, I temporarily linked up the two inclines, giving a much longer length of track to play with. Seeing the trains whizz down one side and up the other, has really invigorated me and got the train juices flowing. So this month has been seen a lot of progress and gotten me enthused.

October Objectives:
  • Continue laying more track: In particular the lower level.
  • Get the initial control panel into place and working.
  • Fix Percy properly, or have the parts on order at least.
  • Make a start on foundations of the top layer

I have been pondering the programming of the PCBs. I really dislike the Hornby select method to programming. I find it really user unfriendly.

I love the eLink in terms of programming capability and PCB value reading. I think I shall use the select I currently have to run trains and the eLink as required to operate the programming track.

More ponderings:

This time, about the gaming board. I'm hosting an opening night toy soldiers game in 8 days. It occurred to me I might like to be able to extend the gaming surface. That's the next project...

Quick little update. The main panel is pretty much in place.
I have made two fold out leaves that extend the gaming surface from 6' by 5' to 8' by 5'. I still have a little bit of work to do with it, but for the most part it's finished and load tested.

Future reference note:

Someone asked me where Beetlejuice was. Now I need to put him on the layout somewhere... ^_^
