Limitations

Posted 29-08-2018 at 07:20 PM by Tony Hibbett
There are limitations. After about 30 A3 sheets, the lamiinator broke down. I bought a new one from W H Smiths for under 20. However, for some reason, some sheets don't fully bond. When this happens, I cut out the parts as usual then glue the loose laminate with UHU.
The A3 heavyweight laminate pouches are not cheap at 20 for 25, compared with standard weight A4, at 10 for 1 at Poundland, where you can also get 60g tubes of UHU for the same. You only need A3 for kits with parts which exceed...

card models outdoors

I have an outdoor layout which included some card models. Despite 2 coats of outdoor varnish inside and out, all that remained were the plastic windows!
It then occurred to me that using a laminater before construction might be a solution. I started with a Superquick 4 terraced houses kit. I used an A3 laminater, using 250 micron glossy A3 pouches, which are rated as outdoor quality. I removed the window aperture pieces first. Once the parts were cut out, I assembled them with UHU glue. When...

So real life has been throwing it's usual curveballs.

June Objectives:
  • Finish wiring in the outer loop. Done!
  • Complete the inner loop. I ran out of wire and track connectors. So track laying stopped.
  • Film a new video of the completed track. Track didn't get completed, so no new video.
  • Make a start on the first first scenery part - The Post Office / Loading shed. Buildings put in place.

so, with the pause put in place because of a wire and track connector lacking,...

Thingies, Doodahs and Whatsamajigs.

Posted 29-05-2018 at 11:24 AM by Ginger The Hutt
I've been through a bit of an enthusiasm rut regarding the railway.

The problem was the bridge was taking much longer than I thought. I was also not really making any headway with the bottle neck issue at the control panel. Mainly because I wasn't really approaching it from the correct thought process angle. There was also some personal issues I had to get through and as such, progress stagnated. If you missed me, I'm sorry I didn't update here to keep you informed. It was one of...
