Blyth & Tyne model railway open day 9-10 Dec

If anybody in the area the club is having it’s open day this weekend in North Shields . It will be open from 1000-1600 both days and if you want to say hello I will be operating my DRS layout Caledonian TMD. Make a day of it as the Xmas markets are on in the town and it’s free parking at the multi story car park at the Beacon Centre. The club is opposite the car park above Asda but don’t use Asda car park as it’s limited to 1 hour.

Hope they have not picked the wrong weekend. The forecast is not good we may get the white stuff this weekend.. We were snowed in last week and nothing moved around here. Wish them all the best and hope it does not snow again for them.

Well just got a little bit of wiring to do maybe 30mins before 1000 doors open. If anybody makes it Saturday come across and say hello.

It’s been a very busy weekend and achieved over 1500 visitors. Lucky the white stuff kept away but very cold outside. My 1st time operating a layout at a public show and got great feedback on my layout and people that impressed wanted to take photos. Because I couldn’t leave my layout with all the stock on display 6hrs is a long time shunting both days. Saying that I was more organised shunting today. Lucky I only live 5mins away and not a long drive home from an exhibition.

When you are on your own it is hard to get away to get a cup of tea . We are In the country out side of Peterlee and it started snowing here about 5pm. It just stayed off long enough for you exhibition. That was lucky....John

Hi John, it was a very good attendance and it was great that the Victorian markets was on so the car park was free. I left about 1615 and we had a light dusting of snow.

John........I well remember, as a 5/6 yr old, snow about 4 ft up the front door in g'dads house, Beech Grove, Trimdon Station. Those were the days, 1940's, bred 'em tough oop north................HB

Hi Cadman, Yes it turned out last night we just got light covering about an inch.

Feel sorry for all those poor souls down south who normally miss it and we get it up here. They got it for change instead of us in the frozen north.
