Pre-ordered a couple of things for the end of the year that way to fix the price and grab my discount.

Can’t remember which loco it was but last year I preordered an 85 loco (Railroad) and paid only 75 but the rrp was increased to 95 on release.
I got 10% discount on all of my pre-orders today. Theoretically, my Collectors Club membership must have expired on the 31/12/2017. Assume 2018 membership will come through soon. Also Hornby have in the past honoured the price as at the pre-order price, despite price increases between order and delivery.

Not a Hornby item, but this would be nice to have in your collection.

It is being produced by Rapido Trains i believe @ 229.

Have you read the description of Tornado on Hornby's announcement? In brief it says -

"Tornado, built in 1960 (the last steam engine to be built for British Railways), renovation began in 1991, completed in 2007."

I looked at hattons, and a couple of others. Nobody will give a guarantee, that you will get your loco, or what the final price will be. I also pre ordered the 5 car Brighton belle set. I thought that was cheap, given the price they want on ebay for the 2 car sets. I have the 5 car Blue and white, and paid almost same price for that. Having travelled on it every night for 2 years, it has a place in my memories. john

It worked the opposite way round for me John. My item was despatched from UK and ended up at Heathrow within 12 hours, but left waiting for 2 weeks for a flight, however the on line tracker said it had left the country. Cyprus Post told me that once Heathrow has ticked the box on screen and thrown your parcel over the dividing wall its off their slop-chit and onto the forwarding nations inventory.
Once it had actually arrived in country it took a further week to get to the village municipal office from where you have to fetch it yourself.

If I send anything from here it is usually in UK and delivered within 3 days.

Edit: noisy wagon. Good idea and good price, wagon plus decoder for less than the price of a standalone TTS decoder. The possibilities of noises are many, how about animals for a cattle dock or train, a shooting party on the landed gentry’s estate, water noises for when passing a waterfall or river, car horns or emergency service noise for in towns, etc.
