Hi KM...,
Layout is not yet built. My DC layout is still up & running but will be dismantling when I come back from Benidorm next week and new layout will be DCC which I will be a complete novice at.
My issue was with a Graham Farish N gauge class 70,dcc ready. As I said I am not techy minded nor electrically proficient, apart from basic wiring so just about everything you mentioned has gone completely over my head.
Thanks for all your input though,it is much appreciated.
Cheers,
Jack

You will pick things up, as you go along. So, for now, by repeatedly reading, and a little touch on the loco, can you get it running? If so, keep moving and revisit it later.

My latest learning curve, had a derailment rerailed and the short was still there, removed loco's one at a time and half way through this the short circuit went away, place the loco on the programming track the handset returned 255 on all CV's read. Off to CoastalDCC yesterday for various bits and pieces including a couple of 21 Pin lenzs, gave the decoder to Kevin and he got it working the short circuit had reset the decoder so my efforts to read it with the address i had it set to simple failed, something to remember i think.

I bought my PowerCab in 2008, I've been in and out of N scale a bunch, since then. It's only now, with the kids out of the house, I'm finally understanding it all. Helps that my daughter, a computer engineering major is now interested. This makes getting into cntrol using a raspberry pi, and soon DCC++ more fun!
