I have 149 N gauge locos.
From very old Farish and UK Minitrix, through less old continental Minitrix, Arnold and Fleischmann to, modern Kato. Tomix, Farish, Dapol and UM, the UM locos out pull any other two locos from the list and simply work. I've had to readjust the odd UM loco's back to back settings to cope with my Kato point-work but compared to GF and Dapol they are bomb-proof and, while not particularly well detailed, certainly deserve their place on my layout.
I've had multiple Dapol failures (mostly derailing on points) from brand new and the odd Graham Farish failure (mostly locking up steamer motion on tender drive locos), but never a similarfaliure with Union Mills!
