How about something like Milliput. You can fill the gap with it them shape it when dry. It dries rock hard. Even Araldite or similar might work. This isn't advice I'm just answering your question.

Would something like Quicksteel Epoxy Putty be any use. Never tried it but if it's able to be moulded it might work?

Quicksteel Epoxy Putty

Or is this the epoxy you were referring to? Sorry I'm unable to advise if it works as I've never tried it.

A sideways thought; could you cut an insulate track joiner long ways, and slide the two halts together, one each side of the track ? Might work depending on where the chairs are placed.

Just to let you know I received a PM with some very helpful information - a product called Sugru, a mould-able putty like substance that sets to a rubber consistency. It works

Good news, I'll check that out as I have a couple of gaps need filling. Thanks for feeding back.

Nevr heard of it, but having just googled Sugru it seems to have a myriad of uses. Thanks for the tip.

Glad to see that my suggestion worked. It's a useful product but I wasn't certain it would do the job you wanted.
