Looking, but not much available at this time. I am sure some will come up on eBay at some point. Even Hattons had a QJ up for sale at one time...a used one.

Do they use any sort of caboose or brake van on their trains in China?

Yes they used to use a caboose style vehicle .... a bit like a bay window caboose .............. I have some and will post a photo for you sometime soon.

My latest info is that cabooses on CHINA RAIL went out of use circa 1998, but did last on regional railways (like the Ji-Tong line) until the end of steam operation (circa 2005).

Here is a photo of a Bachmann S12 caboose........

Okay, I see. A nice simple design. I like the utilitarian look of the caboose. I can see why the Chinese equipment has appeal to modelers.

The layout is far from being ready for exhibition, but I recently hired a local church hall and set up a test running session..................
