Thanks guys, i'll have a look at the tyres tonight when i get home.
My local shop sells them for this loco so i'll probably just replace them anyhow.

Also regarding the weight, it is heavyish but i'll check and possibly add some extra weight to it anyway!

Another possibility is the small gear on the motor shaft could be slipping?
If it's a silvery/aluminium colour, these are quite prone to slipping. The brass ones don't normally slip.

Hi all,

I fitted 2 new rubber traction tyres in place of the clear nylon ones and problem solved.

The old tyres were "really" hard as if they had dried out over time the new tyres were 50p each at my local model shop so cant complain at that.

I also picked up another two mk1 BR blue carriages for 10, they need a little work but i was always going to re paint and weather all my carriages anyway, i now have 5 of these carriages and a sleeper carriage too.
