Think of spiders as your friend. They keep the smaller critters at bay.

Somebody told me most people accidentally eat a few in your sleep during your lifetime when they drop down from the bedroom ceiling lol.

Once I came back soaked from a motorbike ride. I hung my gloves in the airing cupboard for drying. Later that day there was a terrible scream from my daughter. She had opened the cupboard door and though they were two huge spiders.

I have had my layout in the loft since 1994, converted it to DCC a couple of years ago. Hot in the summer, but I have a small air cooler, never had any problems with buckled track, also have solar panels, so basically the air cooler costs zero to run. Not been up there much though lately.

Don't be put off. If space is really tight you could start with a micro layout. I've seen some lovely ones and you could use it to hone your skills for when more space becomes available. Also, you don't need as much stock. I'm working within an 8 foot by 18 inch space and the pleasure it is bringing me is enormous.
