Default Heljan Class 14 - Help with DCC Sound

Hi Everyone,

Iím slowly fitting sound in all of my locos and a recent purchase was a Heljan Class 14.

I have the model in peices on the workbench and Iím at a bit of a loss about how and where to fit a loudspeaker and which one to get. I have found some threads online but unfortunately it looks like the photo hosting services have expired and so I havenít been able to look at any pics.

Can anyone help with this? Would be great to get it back together and making noise soon.

Cheers,

Joel.

Hi,

I've attached a couple of pictures.

So there is a small recess in the cast piece underneath the pcb which may be where the decoder is supposed to live.
If you look at the height of the short nose end which hasn't been removed you can see that there is hardly any space.

I have considered a sugarcube in the cab but was trying to avoid it if possible as it would be quite visible through the windows.

I would be really interested to hear from somebody that has successfully done this.

Thanks,

Joel

Have you considered one of these under the roof were the fan is? I have fitted these in singles and pairs in various Diesel engines. I use Blue Tack to hold them in place, mould it all the way round to get best sound results.

Hi,

Thanks for the advice. That speaker looks pretty big.

I'm looking now for speakers used in N gauge models, I may have to buy a selection of sizes and see which one may fit.

Cheers,

Joel.
