aluminium foil cut to size for the flashing , and a mid to dark matt grey paint , preferably sprayed , for best finish, brushed for an acceptable result. Weather with streaks where possible.

I've used carbon paper too.

Last time, I used an old metal toothpaste tube ( or similar), I just opened it up and cut strips with scissors , worked well !

Can you still get metal tube containers these days. I thought they were all plastic now.

Dont agree with that.............I and many others can do as good finish with a brush. I have seen people paint locomotive with a brush that looks equally as good as spray.

I thought about "flashing" on my station roof, but as yet have not done it, but I did wonder whether the material around the top of a wine/champagne bottle, cut into thin strips. It looks like lead, and its not to bright. Probably similar to a toothpaste tube.

For some reason there are quite a number of bottles lying around - most of it in the garage! A bottle got dropped recently - in the garage - it's an incredible concrete cleaner!
