Re: TrackShack is now closed permanently.

A very bad loss to the hobby. I do hope the owner reads this thread, as I want him to know how much I appreciated his service over the years.

Re: Yuck banner colour

Arghh!!!!
Yes, I too never go there, using new posts all of the time. I agree the colour combination isn't good.I'm blue/green deficient, being unable to distinguish the two in all but glaring light. The much more common red/green issue would have issues.

Re: Can I Sleep at Grandma's Tonight

Yes..... Took me back well over 60 yrs.

Grandma's house is commemorated in the name of one of the stations on my layout.

Sunnisyde, where Grandad is in the garden and Grandma is baking.......What I'd give for one more day there.

OO is 1/76.2 scale or 4mm to the foot but runs on 1/87 gauge track.

HO is 1/87.
I stand corrected.

However it's a relatively simple piece of maths to take your 88ft/sec and divide by your scale to get feet per second in your scale.

Re: SpeedWagon?

Assuming 00, which IIRC [I'm an n gauge modeller, please don't talk about scales....1/148,150,160 ;) ] is 1/87. It's worth knowing that 60mph is 88ft/sec. So your express should cover approx 1ft/sec and a loose coupled goods anything from 4" to 8"/sec. To my eye, these look a bit slow, and while I'm...

Re: Warley 2020 Cancelled

While on a birding holiday in Norfolk, we had a day in Great Yarmouth. We'd never seen so many people on electric scooters! Rather like in Whitby where it appears to be compulsory to walk around with a minimum of two dogs on over long leads, It appeared that GY required the use of an electric buggy.

Re: Warley 2020 Cancelled

What puzzles me abut the big bloke in a big anorak is that the big rucksack is full when he goes into the exhibition. Either he camped out overnight to be first in the queue, or he doesn't intend to buy anything. Which beggars the question, why bring the rucksack? As to the smell, and lets be frank,...

Re: The history of British Chariots: advice please

Chariots were used when there were no horses large enough to ride. The Ancient Britain's, the ones who met Caesar and the later invasion were using them because they always had. Being an island they didn't need to breed larger horses, even though in some cases sister tribes on the mainland were usin...

Re: Soundbars

I've lost all sound above 4000Hz. My hearing below that is not too bad, so my hearing aids progressively boost the sound from about 3500Hz up. If there's background noise, they boost that too. So in a crowded room I'm effectively deafened by the row. Watching TV I sit with the remote in hand to boos...

Re: Stock availability

It seems that Peco are shut down, I have an outstanding order for buffers and brake wagon kits in N. The firm I ordered from said it won't be fulfilled until Peco go back to work.
Other manufacturers seem to be getting stuff out OK.
