Thursday Night at the Club

My OO efforts are lying dormant while I clean up and straighten out the garage, so I manage to get down to
the model train club and fool about with my chums. My new lady friend, it turns out, has an almost instinctual
ability to run model trains, which allows me to get out and do a bit of video. El Paso is on the border of Mexico,
and so we enjoy some participation of our international friends, the first being a clip of a pretty good representation
of a train that would run in the Republic. Amtrak, as it were, is the U.S. national train service.

While blessed to have more room than the average UK modellor, I am continually fascinated by the supreme efforts
posted by UK modellor's, such as the video of the track mat layouts, by Hornby. Whilst having a lot of room is nice,
it requires careful design so that one doesn't end up with a ball of tangled yarn, which, I will confess, is somewhat of
a problem of this Club's layout; many cooks, one broth.

Good to hear from you Chops. I thought you'd been quiet in posting. I hope you and your new found ladyfriend are just right for each other and that things will blossom. Would be good to see a photo of you two together!
I loved the film with the trains.
Trackmat lyouts here are more what we call starter layouts. Something ieal as a first layout to get to learn how things work etc. They may not really look prototypical, but they are fun! And we have imagination to fill the gaps so it works for us. :D

A most delightful companion, seen here upon the New Mexico Rail Runner as we
blast through rural New Mexico on the way to Santa Fe.
